For more than 50 years Waimea Harriers has been encouraging running and walking for people of all ages. We believe running is wonderful for people's fitness and general health! Our motto is 'Run for your life!'
Waimea Harrier events cater for people of all abilities, including competitive runners and walkers, families looking for an outdoor activity they can enjoy together, and social runners and walkers of all ages.
We pride ourselves on the warm welcome we give to everyone.

Individual adult membership is $40.
Joint/Couple/Family membership is $60.
Single adult & child/children is $40.
Schoolchildren and youth students are Free.

Milnes Beatson "Wakefield Roaster" 2025
10k & 5k options
Saturday 25 January
The first Waimea Harriers event in 2025 is the Milnes Beatson Wakefield Roaster - a 5km and 10km fun run or walk on the 25th January.
Registration is outside Wakefield Police station from 2.15pm to 3pm.
3:10pm: Start for 10km walkers.
3.30pm: Start for all 5k competitors and 10k runners.
There is an entry fee of $5 for the 5k event & $10 for the 10k event, and it's free for juniors and youth students and paid-up current members of Waimea Harriers & Athletics Nelson..
All welcome! This is a lovely course on footpaths and rural roads through Wakefield and the surrounding countryside - parental supervision of juniors advised.
Spot prizes of frozen chooks & $200 in vouchers awarded after in the Wakefield Hotel.
** It can be very hot during this summer event and there's a real risk of overheating when you're out running or walking. Remember to hydrate well during the day, as well as before and during the event. There will be aid stations at 2.5km with water and at 5km & the finish with water and cold flannels.**
** Waimea Harriers reserve the right to change or shorten the course, or change the time or even cancel the event dependant on the weather conditions on the day**

Entry Fee: $3 (free for school kids and youth students).
A Spot Prize Draw will take place in Club Waimea after each event - you need to be present to win.
