Scarecrow Scamper X-Country
The Bonny's Farm, Tapawera
16 May 2026
Inc. Afternoon Tea & Wallace Shield Presentation
This Saturday, come to Tapawera for the fabulous, challenging, fun Scarecrow Scamper and Juniors' Rascal Romp.
They're classic cross-country courses. There's a river to cross, but you can choose to run or walk through it, or you can take the bridge. There's a hot shower available at the barn if mud, cold or cowpats get the better of you.
The event takes place on Martin and Jill Bonny’s farm, 297 Tapawera-Baton Road, Tapawera, about 50km/40 minutes drive from Richmond.
Google maps HERE. Keep an eye out for the Waimea Harriers flag at the farm entrance.
We suggest carpooling from Club Waimea. If you have spare seats or would like a ride, meet at the back of Club Waimea carpark at 12:30pm, where Geoff Eban and Don Wardle will fit people into as few cars as is legally and sensibly allowed. Any surplus vehicles can be left parked there ready for pick up after the event.
Registration / Check-in is on the farm at the barn from 1:15pm, with the event briefing at 1:55pm.
Everyone needs to give their chosen distance at check-in for this event.
Distance Options & Start Times:
Walkers Start: 2pm for 1 or 2 laps of a 3.3km loop course.
