Waimea Harrier events cater for people of all abilities, including competitive runners and walkers, families looking for an outdoor activity they can enjoy together, and social runners and walkers of all ages.

Wednesday Social Runs/Walks From Club Waimea
Wednesdays 5:30pm in July 2026
A group of keen runners and walkers will be meeting in the Club Waimea carpark at 5:30pm on Wednesdays in July for a relaxed social run or walk around the Meadows/Berryfields area. Various paces offered. We’ll head out for around 45 minutes, then gather afterwards at Club Waimea for a drink and a chat.
If there is enough interest, these events will continue through winter. You will need a light/torch for when it gets dark and bright reflective clothing is also a good idea so that cyclists can see you.
Everyone is welcome. There’s no fee, no official timing and no race numbers.
Aniseed Ascent - Fundraiser

"The Aniseed Ascent is an exclusive chance to race on land not normally open to the public, making it a must-do for trail runners looking to test themselves on scenic and seldom-trodden ground."
"Both routes climb steadily through a mixed age class of pine forests and offer sweeping views and a true sense of backcountry isolation. In the realm of trail running, the course is fast, with 100% of the course being on dirt forestry roads, but it demands respect, especially on the long Meads Rd climb."
"This event is a fundraiser for Leo Croxford to travel to the US for treatment for an auto immune disorder called SASH3. The need for a transplant is now imperative and requires him to travel to the National Institute of Health in Washington DC. 100% of your entry fee will go towards Leo's treatment."

Two distance options:
10km: Register 9:10am - 9:45am. Start 10am.
20km: Register 8:10am - 8:45am. Start 9am.

Richmond Sprig + Fern 10k

The Waimea Harriers Sprig + Fern 10km fun run and walk on Saturday 1 August 2026 in Richmond is the second of four 10km events in the Nelson Tasman area.
Meet at Bill Wilkes Reserve, Hunter Avenue entrance. Google Maps HERE.

Webscorer numbers are needed for this this event. Check HERE to see if you already have one.
Go HERE to get one - please do this online before the event. Online registration closes at 11am on Saturday.
Check-in for the event opens at 1.20pm and closes promptly at 2pm.
The briefing for the 2:10pm and 2:30pm Start Waves is at 2:05pm.
Casual walkers & slow runners (likely to take more than 90 minutes) can start at 1:45pm.
Speed walkers & early runners (likely to take 70 - 90 minutes) start at 2:10pm.
Main running group (likely to finish under 70 minutes) starts at 2:30pm.
If you don't feel up to doing the full 10km, find a friend and enter as a team and do 5km each. You'll need to get yourselves to and from the 5km mark.
Everyone and all abilities are welcome. This event is free for school children and youth students, and for members of Waimea Harriers. Others - $10. Pay at Check-in on the day.
Enjoy a drink, spot prizes and time together at the Sprig + Fern Upper Queen Richmond afterwards!

Thank you to those who responded to last week's call for volunteers for the Richmond S+F. We almost have a full complement of helpers, but could do with one or two more.
